About Johanna Kindvall

Johanna Kindvall is an architect with a background in social work. She grew up in South Sweden and was dreaming of becoming a baker. As a child, she was often around the kitchen when her mother Mona was baking cakes and breads. During this time she also started to draw. As her father Lennart was a drawing artist, he provided her constantly with nice pens and paper. Later on art and handcraft took over her interests and it was not until she started work as a social worker that she really got into food again.

Johanna found her place in the kitchen and worked together with both drug addicts and later mentally ill people to make breakfast, lunch and also dinner. In the smell and heat of the cooking, Johanna got to know many people with all kinds of different backgrounds and food experiences. Even if the result of the cooking was not always the main goal, she got to learn many new ways of cooking and started to dare experimenting in the kitchen.

Johanna’s recipes are often simple and easy to do. The recipes are inspired by friends and the people she meets. She always works a lot and that’s a reason she developed a way of fresh fast food cooking. Even if Johanna nearly never uses semi-manufactured articles, much of her cooking is quicker to make than waiting for take out! She doesn’t want it to be too complicated and even if there are exceptions, she likes it pure without too many ingredients.

Lastly, cooking is a great reason to have friends over.
